As you can see, I like capuccino

👋 Hello!

I am a Machine Learning researcher who sometimes likes to flip bits by hand in Assembly. I am also a huge nerd for physics, especially quantum and astrophysics.

I am in a constant state of superposition, so the best way to reach me is by email: andrei_radu.danila@stud.etti.upb.ro.

If you are feeling lucky, you can also try to find me physically at:

  • Room B046, Leu Campus, ETTI, 1-3 Iuliu Maniu Blvd. , Bucharest, Romania.
  • Room 304, CAMPUS Research Center, 6D Iuliu Maniu Blvd. , Bucharest, Romania.

    🧑‍🏫 Teaching Assistent

    (Oct 2024 - Present) @ETTI

Working as a teaching assistant in the DCAE department, where I am involved in the development of the Microprocessor Architecture courses. My main focus is on the development of the laboratory sessions, where students get to implement and test their own solutions in Assembly.

    🤖 Machine Learning R&D Engineer

    (Jun 2021 - Present) @MaDENN

Working in the audio department, developing software solutions which integrate concepts from Digital Signal Processing (DSP) alongside Artificial Inteligence (AI). My main focus is on integrating the lastes technologies in domains such as Source Separation (SS), Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR), Denoising and Audio Synthesis.

    📚 Education

    🎓 PhD Student

    (Oct 2024 - Present) @SD-ETTI in co-tuttele with IECS-UniTrento.

PhD student in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, with the thesis Control Methods for Generative Models based on Neural Networks.

I am interested in developing new methods for controlling the generative processes of Deep Learning models. My main focus is on conditioning these models with interpretable and meaningful data. I am also passionate about the optimization of the generative processes, especially using physics inspired methods.

    🎓 Master's degree

    (Oct 2022 - Jun 2024) @ETTI

Master's degree in Computer Science, master program Inteligent Systems and Computer Vision, with the thesis Robust Deep Learning Algorithms for Deepfake Detection.

During my master's degree I focused mainly on discovering the capabilities of unconditional generationtive Deep Learning models. My main focus was on Variational Autoencoders (VAEs), Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) and Diffusion Models. I was also intrigued by the security and ethics implications of Neural Networks, especially in the context of Deepfake generation and detection, which represented the main focus of my thesis.

    🎓 Bachelor's degree

    (Oct 2018 - Jun 2022) @ETTI

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, study program Information Engineering with the thesis Sentiment Analysis using Graph Neural Networks.

During my bachelor studies, I had the opportunity to explore a wide range of topics, from the basics of programming and computer architecture to advanced topics such as Machine Learning. Here I discovered my two (quite opposite) passions: high-level programming of automatic learning systems and low-level programming of microcontrollers in Assembly. My bachelor thesis started from the first passion, and represented my first step into the world of Natural Language Processing (NLP).

    🧑‍🏫 Teaching Activities

All of my teaching activities are done at the ETTI faculty, mostly in the DCAE department. I am involved in the following courses:

  • Human Computer Interfaces (Oct 2023 - Feb 2024) - 4th year, 1st semester laboratory.
  • Microprocessor Architecture 1 (Feb 2023 - Present) - 2nd year, 1st semester laboratory.
  • Microprocessor Architecture 2 (Oct 2023 - Present) - 2rd year, 2nd semester laboratory.
  • Project 2 - Applied Electronics (Feb 2022 - Present) - 3rd year, 1st semester project.
  • Stay tuned for more! This page is still under construction.
